The history of the formation of the pediatric faculty begins in 1939.
Today, the faculty has 8 departments of theoretical and clinical profile.

The possibility of training at the listed clinical bases allows the future pediatrician to receive complete information about the organization of medical care for the children’s population, to study modern medical technologies for diagnosing and treating diseases. Also, in a number of departments, the learning process is integrated into preschool and school educational institutions, which contributes to a deeper understanding of age characteristics, clinical examination and aspects of the preventive activities of a doctor.
Students participate in scientific and practical conferences and consultations held at clinical sites, perform research work under the guidance of the teaching staff.
Close cooperation with the Department of Health of Yekaterinburg and the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk Region is aimed at attracting employers to review the main educational program of the specialty 060103.65 – Pediatrics and work programs of disciplines, to participate in the educational process and the state final certification of graduates, to vocational guidance for students at the stage of undergraduate education, as well as the integration of scientific achievements into practical health care.
Over the period of activity of the pediatric faculty, more than 9,000 pediatricians have been trained
Extracurricular work of students
The leading role in the education of students belongs to the teaching staff of the university. In the system of educational activities at the faculty, great importance is given to the institution of curators (attached teachers) who work with students of 1-2 courses. The curators include the most experienced teachers of theoretical and clinical departments, whose activities are aimed at shaping students’ motivation for learning, creating a corporate student culture, developing students’ creative potential and initiative. Curators help to form personal and communicative competencies of students, adapt to the new system of education, including in the context of the introduction of a point-rating system for assessing students’ educational achievements.
Students of the Faculty of Pediatrics enthusiastically participate in cultural events (“Freshman’s Day”, “White Coat Holiday”, “Stars of USMU”, “Science Day”, professional competition “I am a Doctor”, “Open Doors Day”, etc.) , are engaged in numerous creative groups (choir, theater studio, dance group, KVN, etc.), take part in sports events.9
Great importance is given to the development of the volunteer movement. Students of the Faculty of Pediatrics are actively involved in organizing and conducting a number of events (“Let’s help together”, “Do good, expanding the scale”, “Health lessons”, “Donor Day”, “PRO-healthy choice”, etc.), in the work of the Council of Veterans USMU.
