Transformative Nursing Education at
Ural State Medical University
Training in the direction of “Nursing” has been carried out since 1999. Since 2015, an educational program has been implemented in the direction of training bachelors with the qualification “Academic Nurse. Teacher”. In the direction of “Social work” training has been conducted since 2007. The graduate is awarded the qualification “bachelor” in the direction of training Social work. Training in the direction of “Clinical Psychology” has been conducted since 2011. Students are trained in the specialty 37.05.01 “Clinical Psychology”, specialization “Pathological diagnostics and psychotherapy”.
Now the faculty includes 5 departments, including 2 graduating departments (clinical psychology and pedagogy; higher nursing education and social work), and departments of history, economics and jurisprudence; philosophy, bioethics and cultural studies; physical culture.
The purpose of creating the faculty is to optimize the training of highly qualified specialists who are in demand in various fields of medical science, practical health care and education, capable of carrying out professional activities in the field of social work, clinical psychology and nursing management to maintain health and improve the quality of life of the population.

Today the faculty has 315 students.
The educational process on the BEP HE implemented by the faculty is carried out in well-equipped classrooms of the university, on the basis of medical and preventive and medical and social institutions equipped with new high-tech equipment, institutions and organizations for social protection of the population, education, health care. All classrooms are equipped with a set of audio-video equipment for multimedia presentations, demonstrations of educational films. A single network with Internet access allows teleconferences to be held remotely in real time. The Department of Social Work and Sociology of Medicine is the leader of USMU in the implementation and dissemination of innovative models and technologies for improving the quality of education in traditional medical areas of training. Every year, more than a hundred teachers of the university and other universities take courses to improve their pedagogical qualifications at the department. There is a process of formation of a scientific and methodological school on innovative pedagogy. Faculty students are actively involved in research work, and in extracurricular activities and project activities.
The faculty has established an Academic Council, methodological commissions in the specialty “Clinical Psychology” and humanitarian disciplines, in the areas of training “Nursing” and “Social work”.
