Pharmacy Excellence at Ural State Medical University
The year 2001 is considered the beginning of the development of higher pharmaceutical education in the Ural region, when, in accordance with the decision of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation No. faculty, headed by Professor Smolenskaya Olga Georgievna. The first intake of students in 2001 was 56 people
The faculty began its development with the formation of 6 departments: the Department of Biology, the Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of General Chemistry, the Department of Pharmacology, the Department of Pharmacy, which since 2003.
Highly qualified specialists work at the faculty: out of 66 teachers, 9 doctors of sciences (13.6%), 40 candidates of sciences (60.6%). The total number of persons with an academic degree and title is 74.2%. At the graduating departments, 25 teachers train specialists, of which 6 are doctors of science (24%), 12 candidates of science (48%), the total number of teaching staff with a scientific degree and title is 72%. An honored worker of higher education, Professor L.P. Larionov, the founder of the scientific school of experimental pharmacology of USMU, works at the faculty.
In order to ensure the quality assurance of practical training of specialists, the faculty has concluded agreements on joint activities not only with large pharmacy chains of the Sverdlovsk region (GUP SO “Pharmacy”, EMUP “Health”, LLC “Zhivika”, “Classic”, “Rainbow”, “New Hospital ”, etc.), but also research institutes (Research Institute Botanical Garden of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Research Institute of Organic Synthesis of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences), management structures (Roszdravnadzor, Ministry of Health of SO), pharmaceutical enterprises (Uralbiopharm, Yekaterinburg Pharmaceutical Factory, Berezovsky Pharmaceutical Plant), a branch FSUE “Microgen” – Yekaterinburg enterprise for the production of bacterial preparations, analytical laboratories (Certification and Quality Control Center, Yekaterinburg Clinical Diagnostic Center). In addition, there is an opportunity to do an internship abroad. In 2011, 2012 and 2013 under a cooperation agreement with the University of Kamensky (Bratislava, Slovakia), groups of 4th year students had an internship abroad, in 2014 – on the organization of the pharmaceutical business in the Czech Republic.
In 2020, the 15th graduation of specialists – pharmacists took place. In total, 1009 graduates were trained by the Faculty of Pharmacy, most of them begin their professional activities in pharmacy organizations of the Sverdlovsk region or continue their studies in residency and postgraduate studies.
